Karachi
United FC entered the field
looking to avenge their 3-0
defeat on the first day. Al-Ahli
had sent out a similar team as
to the one faced by KU in their
first match. KU also started
with the same team. The feeling
in the team was one of positives
after a strong performance
against Al-Sadd.
The game
started with KU taking the
initiative for the early goal. A
couple of close chances went
their way while Al-Ahli also
enjoyed some possession. Kareem
Kerai was awarded a freekick
near the edge of the box and his
scorching shot went agonizingly
close, just hitting the upright.
But KU’s attempts of opening the
scoring took a sucker punch when
against the run of play Al-Ahli
snatched a goal. It looked like
another unlucky day for the away
team and a few heads started to
drop.
At the half
time interval the coaches gave
an inspiring speech to lift the
team up which and KU started the
2nd half rejuvenated.
The intensity of the whole team
rose to whole new level and it
took jus 13 minutes for KU to
take the lead. First Zaid
Kerai(who was getting closer to
scoring by the second) latched
onto a loose ball with an
immense burst of pace and it was
his momentum and his
determination to win the ball
that led to KU’s equalizing
goal.
The whole
team looked to have stepped up
into a higher gear. The passing
of the team kept improving and
the opposition team’s defence
was regularly exposed and it was
only a matter of time for the
second goal to come. Amaan Saeed
after some brilliant work to win
the ball gave Zaid Kerai a
lovely long ball and his burst
of pace beat the defenders.
After that all it needed was
composure and he didn’t fail to
deliver. He calmly slotted the
ball past the goalkeeper and KU
had taken the lead.
KU now
started to defend in numbers and
tried to hit the opposite team
on counter attacks. Zaid Kerai
after receiving a 2nd
yellow card was dismissed by the
referee. But an Al-Ahli player
was also sent off after a while
and the odds were balanced out.
Kareem Kerai’s wicked delivery
on a corner gave the final blow
as an Al-Ahli player hit the
ball into his own net making the
score 3-1 to KU. The final
whistle sparked off celebrations
as KU won their final match of
the tour.
